SA not well-equipped against cyber crimes
According to the article by Business Insider SA, “South Africa remains vulnerable to cyberwarfare, despite a plan to protect the country against threats to its national security and commercial capability being put into motion almost eight years ago.

Cyberattacks have increased at a rapid rate, especially since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, which left many businesses vulnerable to incidents as work moved from secure offices and servers to homes.”

South Africa needs to improve efforts against cybercrime
In a recent Mail and Guardian publication, it was declared that “South Africans must up their game against cybercrime”,  and that the country “needs a sustained national public awareness campaign to inform and mobilise the public against a growing pandemic of cybercrime”. Also that “although much progress has been made in educating the public about the dangers of Covid-19, the same cannot be said for protecting citizens from falling victim to cybercrime. And unlike Covid-19, there is no “’herd immunity” against cyberattacks.”
