Stop data breaches with managed detection and response

The online threat landscape has changed drastically. Advanced attacks, spear-phishing and data breaches are, unfortunately, pretty much the norm today. With cyber attacks growing more advanced day by day, you cannot rely on stopping all threats from entering your network. The faster you can identify and contain suspicious activity, the smaller the damage to your business. Managed detection and response (MDR) is an innovative solution to this crisis and these services are filling the needs of organisations of all sizes that lack their own internal security resources and expertise.

The idea behind MDR is simple. The “managed” part of the term means that the service is fully operated by an external partner, requiring very little input from an organisation’s internal IT team.

“Detection and response” refers to the way in which the service works. By inserting sophisticated sensors across a company’s endpoints and networks, the solution provides full visibility into the wider IT environment.

This results in a solution that can detect cyber-attacks based on behaviour, instead of relying on obvious signs of malicious activity. MDR also enables swift and effective response actions, supported by automation or intelligent and informed human decisions.

No human is able to flag online threats alone and rarely are there clear signs that something is wrong with your network. The only way to catch attacks like these is using a combination of man and machine. Simply put, this involves the following:

  • Sensors collect relevant data
  • Artificial intelligence processes the data
  • Knowledgeable human analysts go through suspicious detections

F-Secure’s Rapid Detection & Response Service is an outstanding MDR solution that takes the weight off a company’s shoulders in terms of threat and incident management. It is an ideal solution if cyber expertise is not available in-house in an organisation.
